When it’s Italian cheese and wine, you can’t have too much of a good thing. This month, our tasting event will hit the spot four times over, as we explore the multiple faces of Robiola cheeses and Tocai - Friulano wines.
"Robiola" is the general name for soft cheeses from Northwest Italy. From the cheese board we'll taste a variety of Robiola cheeses, from the light and delicate Piemontese Roccaverano, to the sweet and pungent Lombaridan Rustica.
For the pour, we’ll taste our way through the Tocai - Friulano tangle: a rich history of monikers and winemaking that span current borders into old empires. The wine traditions of Northeastern Italy’s Friuli Giulia-Venezia bleed into neighboring Slovenia and Hungary, but the results are distinct. Friulano (called Tocai Friulano until just last year) is Sauvingnonasse in Slovenia. In addition to these 3 crisp and elegant whites, we’ll also sample Tocai Rosso, a lively red.
One cheese four ways. One wine, four faces. Don’t miss this event, guaranteed to be the most mouthwatering lesson in town.
